An amazing experience...

Student Show is a continuous process. Preparation for the next show begins just days after the curtain has dropped on our previous production. Each year, an eager team of students is chosen to lead the organisation of the show, you can learn more about them here!

Although a lot of the work takes place over the course of the year, for our cast of students, the whole show is put together in just 4 short weeks in March/April. Find out about our rehearsal schedule below!

Weeks 1 & 2: 6pm-10pm Rehearsals

In our first two weeks of rehearsals, we rehearse from 6-10pm. During this time we get to know each other a little better and begin learning the show’s material. It's mainly learning songs, harmonies and dances. You would be surprised at just how much can get done during this first week alone!

Weeks 3 & 4: 10am-10pm Rehearsals

Our second week commences our 2 week block of 10am-10pm rehearsals. During this time, rehearsals continue as we get the opportunity to publicise our production. We visit our sponsors for photographs, hand out promotional materials in and around Aberdeen and continue pushing ticket sales!

A big part of these rehearsals involve visiting charities in and around Aberdeen. We get to see the amazing work they do and it really pushes us to work as hard as possible and raise more and more money! Find out more here.

Socials

Over the whole rehearsal period (and during show week), we have dozens of socials including coffee parties, Friday parties and Family Ties. Find out more about our socials here!

Week 5: Show Week!

This is when all our hard work becomes something quite incredible. Everything (and everyone!) is shipped over to His Majesty’s Theatre to begin the final rehearsals for our show. Lighting, set, sound and band come together with the cast to create the finished product.

After a Technical Rehearsal on Monday and a Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday, the curtain goes up on  Wednesday for our Opening Night performance. We perform 4 evening and 2 matinee shows – an experience like no other!
