Socials

Student Show is not just about hard work! Before, during and after rehearsals, there is a strong emphasis on cast bonding and what better way to do this than social events? Below is a list of just some things we get up to!

Coffee Parties

Coffee parties take place every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of rehearsals. After the rehearsal has finished, we all pile into someone's flat and consume plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits! Coffee parties are a great way to wind down after a busy day of rehearsals and are fantastic for getting to know your fellow cast-mates!

Friday Parties

Friday parties take place (you guessed it) every Friday! We all congregate in a cast-member's flat and each week has a different theme that is decided by the admin team. Some past themes include: 'Things beginning with M', 'Anything but clothes', 'Christmas' and 'Emojis'. These parties are a great way to relax after a busy week of rehearsals and are always hilarious! Have a look below at some pictures from previous Friday parties!

Guy's and Girl's Night

Guy's and Girl's Night takes place in the last week of rehearsals. All the guys meet at one house and all the girls meet at another. Everyone gets all dressed up and we head out into town! This is a highlight of the rehearsal process and everyone really looks forward to it!

Dress Circle Bar (Opening Night)

After the curtain falls on opening night, we all rush back to our dressing rooms to get ready and head up to the Dress Circle Bar in HMT. Here we have speeches, thank-yous and lots and lots of photos! Many past student-showers attend this ceremony and its a great chance for everyone to reminisce about past productions as well as celebrating opening night! This is also where the Administrator announces the winner of the 'Scotland the What?' award which is presented to a cast member who has gone above and beyond that year. Have a look at some snaps from previous ceremonies!

After-Show Party

Our after-show party is a very bitter-sweet event. Its a chance to celebrate all of our hard work over the last 5 weeks. We all get into our PJ's and party until the early hours! It's a fantastic way to end a crazy show week with an admin team song (written about the ups and downs of the whole show process) and awards given out to cast members. We're not exaggerating when we say it takes a few days to recover from this one!

Disbursement

Our final notable social event is 'Disbursement'. This is where all the money that has been raised by Student Show and AUSA Rag gets presented to the well-deserving charities. This is a heart-warming event that makes all of our hard work worthwhile.
