FAQs

Below is a list of frequently asked questions. We hope the answers are of use to you.
Alternatively, you can message us on Facebook or email one of our team.

When do you rehearse?

We rehearse for 4 weeks over the Aberdeen University Easter Holidays with our show taking place the week after. Our first two weeks of rehearsals run Monday - Friday, 6pm until 10pm. For the next 2 weeks, we rehearse Monday - Friday 10am-10pm. Do not let this put you off! We can promise that these 5 weeks of hard work will be extremely rewarding as it's not just about making the show, it's about making life long friends, with plenty of chances to bond over the month. Find out more about our socials here!

I don't study at the University of Aberdeen, can I still audition?

Student Show is for any student in Aberdeen currently attending a course at Robert Gordon's University, NESCOL or The University of Aberdeen. We understand that students at RGU and NESCOL may have classes at this time and this is taken into account when forming the rehearsal schedules. To audition, you must have a valid student ID number and student card. We cannot allow non-students to perform for insurance reasons.

What happens to all the money you raise?

Student Show raises tens of thousands of pounds every year for charity. Annually, the money we make is added to the AUSA Charities Campaign total and distributed amongst deserving charities. Find out more about our charity work here.

I'm not a performer, how else can I get involved?

There are lots of ways to get involved with Student Show besides performing on stage. Find out more here.

When and where are the auditions?

Our auditions will take place in the MacRobert building at Aberdeen University.

How do I audition and what are the auditions like?

An audition form will be posted on our Facebook page near the time of auditions in March so keep your eye on our page! Our auditions are very laid-back and are nothing to stress about! Find out what to expect here.

Where do you perform?

Student Show takes place in His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen. It is Aberdeen's largest theatre with a capacity of over 1,400 and we get very close to selling out every performance! People come from all over to see Student Show and it has a fantastic reputation. It is an amazing experience performing on such an impressive stage in front of over a thousand people!
